Abstract

This paper is entitled “A Comparative Study on the of Plot Karma Sang Pendosa by Rosyid E Abby and Malin Kundang Book by Tira Ikranegara”. The object of this comparative research, are two different literary works with different cultural backgrounds, space and time. Both drama text and book Karma Sang Pendosa and Malin Kundang tell us about disobedience story, even though disobedience story depicted in both texts are quite different. The characters in both stories show affection, arrogance, and violence. The struggle and the sacrifice to stand up for the purpose of life are also shown trough the characters within the texts. The writer is interested to analyze the similarities of the plot about disobedience child. The writer used qualitative method to explain the similarities on the plot within the texts and used some procedures of data collection. First, the writer read the books as the research text; the goal of this step is to choose and to sort of the data that is going to be analyzed. The next is after reading the books and comprehending its content, the writer finally found out and clearly understood the main ideas within texts, what are the similarities on the plot story in the books. Then the writer read the whole additional data and finally analyzed them. Then interpreting was the next step done by the writer. The aim is to have the better understanding and have a deep comprehension entirely. Making a conclusion is the writer’s last step. The conclusion is made from the result of the analysis. There are the similarities from the plot Karma Sang Pendosa and Malin Kundang. The similarity is that it can be seen in the five steps Freytag’s Pyramid are exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
