Abstract

This research is entitled The Implementation of Role Playing in Teaching “Showing Care”. The use of role-playing learning methods is expected to increase students' confidence and to see the extent to which students can apply an understanding of public speaking even in roles. The purposes of this research are to know how is implementation of usingrole-playing method, to know what are the teaching equipmentsthat are usedinrole-playing method, to know how is the resultof how is the result ofusingrole-playing methodand to know what are the student’s responses toward the implementationofusingrole-playing methodin teaching showing carefor the first-grade studentsof SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung. This research used several steps such asPlanning, Implementing and Reporting. The data were gathered through qualitative and quantitative data. Quantitative data was as additional data. Qualitative data was obtained through classroom observation during the teaching-learning process. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaire and learning outcomes activities1 and 2. This research usedan oral test to the students were divided the score into five criteria, which were the scores of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency,and comprehension. It was based on Heaton’s scale rating scores. After that, to get the mean, the scores from all criteria were the sum and divided into five.Based on the research conducted in X MIPA 4of SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung,this research wasfirst supplied by the teaching-learning determination such as syllabus and lesson plan that had been upgraded. The implementation of role-playing method in teaching showing care having an improvement as much as 3.4% from activity 1 to activity 2. It could be considered that the implementation gavestudents’ significant resultsin their learning outcomes. The result of students’ response in implementing the role-playing methodgained score as much as 77.6 %and included the “Agree” category.Key word: Role PlayingMethod, Showing Care
