Abstract
Movie is not only to entertain the audience, but it can also be used as a learning or educational media. Many things we can take in watching movies and this is very useful if we apply it in our daily life. Movie also makes the audience easier to understand what messages that the director delivers through the story. In this paper, the writer conducted a research about An Analysis of Moral Message in Frank Darabont’s The Green Mile Movie. Moral message can be used as a guideline in our life. The writer conducts research by watching “The Green Mile” movie for several times and also read the movie script. The writer process the data in the form of text dialogue from the movie script. Qualitative descriptive method is used to describe and explain what has been interpreted from the object of the research. In this research, the writer uses the theory of moral messages by Nurgiyantoro. The result of findings in this research showed that the writer found 17 moral messages that refer to the kinds of moral messages categories, they are relationship between human being and themselves, relationship between human being and others, and relationship between human being and God. The writer also found how the moral messages presented in “The Green Mile” movie. The director conveyed the moral messages in indirect ways because he describes it through the story. Moral messages in “The Green Mile” movie are presented through the events, character’s attitudes, and action the characters in facing the event or conflict.
