Abstract
The purpose of this research is analysis of figurative language in literary works, it is a novel, about the kinds of figurative language in Indonesian novel, Jalan tak Ada Ujung. Then the search for data, the writer collected the sentences of figurative language in Jalan Tak Ada Ujung. Forward, the determine kinds of figurative language in Indonesian novels and explaining in paragraphs and identifies figurative language sentences from novel by analysing them based on Gorys Keraf’s theory and Rozakis theory. The aim of this research is to generate new knowledge and insight into the kinds of figurative language, especially, Jalan Tak Ada Ujung. Therefore, it is important to understand the meaning of figurative language data, for Indonesian and foreign readers. This research is a qualitative study which used the main theory by Gorys Keraf (2010) and Rozakis in Muhammad Imam (2020), and theories 4 groups of figurative language by Gorys Keraf (2010). Data analysis techniques were selected, observing, critical reading, and note-taking, analyzing, and describing in a narative way, based on relevant theories. This research has been presented 21 figurative language sentences or data by the novel. Therefore, it will provide benefits for readers and the next researchers, as well as offering an overview to inform further research on other objects or novels in the similar topic.
