Abstract

This research entitled “A Syntax Analysis on Imperative Sentences in Gym Rules and Regulations at Gaia Hotel Bandung” aims to analyze the syntactic structure of imperative sentences found in the gym rules and regulations and to describe their sentence patterns, including simple, compound, and complex forms. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, focusing on textual analysis. The data source consists of imperative sentences collected from the gym’s official rules and regulations. The findings reveal that simple sentences are the most frequently used structure. Out of 9 imperative sentences analyzed, 6 sentences (66.7%) are categorized as simple sentences, each containing a single independent clause used to deliver direct commands or instructions—for example, “Sanitize your hand before entering the gym” and “Bring your own water bottle.” The remaining 3 sentences (33.3%) are classified as complex sentences, consisting of one independent clause combined with at least one dependent clause. This analysis highlights the tendency to use concise and direct language in instructional texts such as gym rules, reflecting clarity and efficiency in communication. Key words: Syntax, Imperative Sentences, Sentence Structure, Gym Rules, Gaia Hotel Bandung, Qualitative Analysis, Syntactic Analysis.
