Abstract

Comics nowadays is not only being read in a physical form but since technology evolves comics also began to change to webcomics. Webtoons is a platforms that provide a lot of webcomics. Solo leveling is one of them that got popular among other’s title. People seems to enjoy the story and how the character develop. This research is focused on how the plot structure of the webtoon making it so popular. Therefore the research question is that how is the plot structure contribute to its popularity and what types of plot being used in the story. This research is using cognitive narratology by Herman (2002) to analyze the structure of the plot. The elements of plot consist of 5 elements, exposition, inciting incident, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. The writer conducts this research by using qualitative aproach. The writer finds that solo leveling became popular is because of the plot that the author use and the action that being shown in every chapter making the reader enggaged and waiting for the next chapter. The main power of this title is its action. While its popular, the writer finds that Solo leveling have much more potential with its story and how the character interact with each other.
