Abstract

There are so many terms in Barbershop that use English, because the use of English in Barbershop is believed to increase people interest in Barbershop. The writer choose “The English Influence on Society's Interest in Barbershop” as the title of his research. This research has purpose to know whether there is English influence on society’s interest in Barbershop. This study used a qualitative method with an interview questionnaire instrument containing 5 question items. These 5 questions have been tested after going through several changes in question points due to unsuitable research results. Then 5 valid questions were distributed to the research sample, namely 10 customers of Chop Chop Haircut, 10 customers of Hairnerds Studio Bandung, and 10 customers of Collars Barber. The writer limits this study to the influence of English haircut models on consumer decisions to shave their hair. The writer has concluded that some customers prefer barbershop than regular barber. The reasons are various, start from keeping up with the times, wanting to be more up-to-date, also because the services are diverse and very professional. Also, the use of English in haircuts model has proven effective in attracting people's attention. Because most of the haircuts model that are trending come from English term. Therefore, English is very influential in the massive development of barbershop business today. Keywords: Language, society, interest, influence, barbershop.
