Abstract
The research thesis is about the implementation of Discovery method in teaching descriptive text to improve students’ writing skills. According to Bruner cited Arends (2008) stated that Discovery learning is a learning model that emphasizes that importance of helping students to understand the structure, key ideas, and disciplines needed for students’ active involvement in the learning process and belief that true learning occurs through personal Discovery. The research was taken place in MTsN 5 Serang consist of 25 students. This research is an experimental implementation of Discovery method and using descriptive qualitative. The instruments that the researcher used in conducting the research are observation, field note, tests (pre-test and post-test), and questionnaire. Based on the observation sheet and field notes the researcher found out the procedures to implementation this method and the teaching equipment used in the classroom. Based on the test to 25 populations figure of students, most of students have difficulties writing descriptive text, the proof was when the researcher when gave the pre test to the students. The result of the pre test has an average of 63.1 and the average of post test is 86.8 it means the Discovery method in teaching writing descriptive text makes it easier for the students. Then from the questionnaire, the researcher also gave a lot of positive responds toward the advantages of implementation the Discovery method in teaching descriptive text.
