Abstract

The title of this paper is An Analysis of Hiccup's Character Development in the Movie "How to Train Your Dragon" by Cressida Cowell. This research contains Character Development of Hiccup from the beginning to the end of the film. Because he is portrayed as a teenage boy who is different from the depiction of the main character in general. He seemed unreliable and untrusted by his tribe, his friends, and his own father and his life changed after he met with a dragon. The researcher selects a theory that is closely related to the method and some elements that can be used. The method that the researcher use is to repeat every moment where the main character appears and does something that might change him directly or indirectly. But in this method the researcher show several scenes that contain the process of changing his attitude, both at the beginning and the end of the movie. In this movie the researcher explains how the theories are applied in the research’s study. From this research, the researcher finds several problems faced by the main character in this movie, especially in his appearance and his circumstance. In the end, the researcher hoped that his research paper is useful for himself, and those who read it. Keywords: movies, tribe, dragon, villages
