Abstract

This study is entitled “ The Use Instagram As a Reference for Attractions in The City of Garut (Phenomenology Study Of Instagram Account @jelajah_garut used among Students At Garut University)”. The purpose of this study was to find out what motives the University of Garut participated in the account @jelajah_garut how the social interaction of students of the University of Garut after following the Instagram account @jelajah_garut, and how the meaning of the account @jelajah_garut as a tourist attraction on Instagram among Garut University Students. The method used in this study uses qualitative research methods. By using Alfred Schutz's Phenomenology theory. Data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and triangulation. The informants of this study were users of the @jelajah_garut instagram account among Garut University students and the founder and owner of the @jelajah_garut account. Based on the results of the study showed that, the users of Instagram account @jelajah_garut have a motive that is as a reference and source of information about tourism in the City of Garut. The social interaction of Garut University students after following the Instagram account @jelajah_garut by mentioning their friends to visit the tourist attractions recommended by the Instagram account @jelajah_garut. Students of the University of Garut interpret instagram account eating harassment as a tourist reference on Instagram. After conducting research on the phenomenon of using the Instagram account @jelajah_garut, researchers suggest that informants to study Instgram in addition to tourism references can also examine the effect of Instagram on people's lives because of Instagram,because Instagram content is good that has moral messages, entertains,and even something is wrong.
