Abstract

This research is entitle d “An Error Analyisis of Using Simple Pr esent Tense on Descriptive Text. The research is aimed for finding the kinds of the Student’s errors which are made on using simple present tense on their descriptive text. This research is done thus the students still do t he errors on writing. Thus of it , error analysis is needed for knowing the students ability on English. Therefore the learning activi ty can be improved. The research question of this research is What kinds of the Student’s error in using simple present tense on their descriptive text . The method that is used on this research is qualitative method. Qualitative method is used thus the dat a which is used on this research is the text and t he data is not numerical data. The result of this research shows that the students still do the errors on writ ing descriptive text. The errors total which ar e made by the students around 34 8. Th e errors are categorized into 72 errors of Misi nformation which reach around 20% , 163 errors of omission reach 46%, 27 error of addition reach 7,7%, 26 errors of missordering reach 7,4 % , 26 errors of misspelling reach 7,4% and 34 err ors of code switching reach 9 % . Furthermore the errors total which ar e made by the students around 97,5 %. The errors made by the student are very high. The Students still lack the knowledge about the grammar on English language. Especially on Using the simple present tense. The studen ts lack knowledge about the formulas itself. The students forget to choose the right verb. On simple present tense, the verb is depending into the subject. If the subject is singular or (He, She, it) so the verb must be added S/Es on the ending of the verb . The students still do the errors on making the right sentence. It is caused thus the students usually use language one (Indonesian) Pattern into English language. Therefore there are some errors which are made by the students. Thus there is grammatical d ifference between Indonesian and English. Key words: Descriptive text, Error analysis, Qualitative method
