Abstract

The title of this research is “The Use of Pinocchio Film as A Media for Teaching in Writing Skill” by means to know the effectiveness of media film in improving the student’s writing skill. It is written to be submitted to English Department of Pasundan University. The participants of the study are eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Lembang academic year 2014/2015. The objective of this study is to investigate the use of film in teaching writing in VIII-E class of SMPN 1 Lembang. The successful of teaching learning is depending how to implement the approach, method, technique, strategy, and media in the activity. There are so many way to improve human’s writing. The writer conducted this research by using descriptive quantitative method. The writer tried to apply media film in teaching writing especially in narrative text. In collecting the data, several instruments were utilized. The first step was conducting the classroom observation. The writer as an observer and the teacher conducted this study three times of meeting, first day for pre-test, second day for treatment and last day for post-test. Some numerical data are described using descriptive analysis. After the writer collect all students work, the writer evaluates it using some the aspects of assessment and comparing the result score of pre-test and post-test. From the result of pre-test and post-test, the writer found the progress between pre-test and post-test score was based on the table of value. The writer also interviewed the students and the teacher to know the opinion of students and teacher about film as a teaching media in writing skill. The finding in this study clearly found that the media film is significantly improves the students’ skills in writing. Therefore, the use of Pinocchio film as a media for teaching in writing skill is effective to be applied.
