Abstract

Listening is one of four major skills that should be learnt in English lesson. However, most of the students faced some problems in learning listening. They lacked interest in listening because they are less of source used in teaching listening, and they lacked practice because listening gets less proportion in teaching activity. Thus, the student’s listening achievement is low. Therefore, the researcher tried to implement the PPP method to answer that problem. PPP stands for Presentation Practice and Production. The implementation of PPP method is expected to improve their listening skill so it will be easier to help them in practice their listening skill and they will be more motivated in listening because they are given some excrcises. This paper entitled “The Implementation of PPP Method in Improving Student’s Listening Skill” has the aim to know how the implementation of PPP method can improve the student’s listening skill. The target of this research is one class of the first grade students in Pasundan 8 Senior High School Bandung. The resercher used qualitative method in this research. To know the student’s listening skill, the researcher also used pre test and post test. Observation, interview, and questionnaire are used to get the valid data. The result showed that after the PPP is applied, the student’s listening skill has increased than before. The average of pre test is 5.29 and the average of post test is 6.14. From the result above, it proves that the PPP method can improve the student’s listening skill. It also can be seen from the student’s interview and questionnaire about the implementation of PPP method.
