Abstract
This paper entitled “A Syntactic Analysis on the English Translation of Surah Ar- Rahman Using Theory of Tree Diagrams” Ability in identifying an Analysis of sentence. It is written to be submitted to English Department of Pasundan University, Bandung, as a partial fulfilment of the requirement of the final academic year. The content of this paper discusses about a syntactic Analysis, this type of syntactic analysis is a sentence analysis by using internal hierarchical structure of sentences as generates by set of rules proposed by Diane Bornstein, Moreover, surface structure is one of the ways to analyze a sentence based on the form while the other ways, deep structure, to analyze a sentence based on the meaning or the content. The method used in this research analysis is descriptive qualitative method. This paper describes the syntactic analysis structure, the rational of choosing this method is caused by the writer’s interest that would like to describe the analysis about the ways to analyze a sentence based on the form while the other ways, deep structure, to analyze a sentence based on the meaning or the content on the English Translation of surah Ar-Rahman. The conclusion of this research is that the structure are good enough in identifying the grammatical units, it is concluded that syntax is the arrangement and relationship among words, phrases, and clauses forming sentences based on grammatical rules. In this case, studying syntax is important since it studies how sentences are formed and arranged based on the grammatical rule. Keyword: Analysis, Language, Grammar, Syntax, structure
