Abstract
This study explores the difficulties encountered by seventh-grade students at SMP Pasundan 3 as they engage in writing, with a specific focus on descriptive writing. This study employs a qualitative approach and case study methodology to examine the different types and occurrences of mechanical errors, such as punctuation, spelling, and capitalization, as well as grammatical errors, including tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and articles. The findings indicate that these fundamental issues greatly impede the clarity and coherence of students' writing, which in turn makes it challenging for readers to grasp their work. The findings reveal a continuing challenge encountered by the research sample, indicating that educators must confront these issues to enhance students' writing abilities. Keywords: Clarity and Coherence, Descriptive Text, Error Analysis, Grammatical Errors, Mechanical Errors, Writing Difficulties.
