Abstract

This research is titled "The Utilization of Instagram Social Media @jaswitajabar as a Public Information Media." The focus of this study is to understand how PT Jaswita Jabar utilizes Instagram social media, grounded in Robert L. Daft and Robert H. Lengel's Media Richness Theory. This study aims to analyze how PT Jaswita Jabar leverages Instagram as a public information medium. Specifically, it examines four main aspects: how the company achieves speed in information delivery (Immediacy), how the company uses various cues in communication (Multiple Cues), how the company implements natural and easily understandable language variations (Variety Language), and how the company adapts its communication to the needs and preferences of individual publics (Personal Source) through Instagram. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive study approach. The researcher will explain in detail how PT Jaswita Jabar uses Instagram as a means to convey information to the public. Data collection involves several steps, including direct observation and in-depth interviews with relevant parties, comprising expert informants, supporting informants, and academic informants. The research findings indicate that Instagram proves essential in facilitating product access and serving as a primary source of credibility in tourism. The diversity of visual cues, including consistent color palettes, videos, and infographics, is highly effective in building brand identity. Adaptive and strategic language variations, supported by visual text features, result in easily comprehensible communication. Furthermore, the utilization of personal sources, such as testimonials and selective local influencers, is proven to be strategic and effective in disseminating relevant information.
