Abstract

The research paper entitled “An Analysis of Translation Technique on Lang Leav’s Poetry Book: Love and Misadventure from Lefevere’s Perspective”. This topic was chosen to analyze the translation technique used to translate the poems in Love & Misadventure, and how many techniques are used in each of these poems. The researcher employs Lefevere’s poetry translation theory (1975), namely (1) phonemic translation, (2) literal translation, (3) metrical translation, (4) poetry into prose translation, (5) rhymed translation, (6) blank verse translation, and (7) interpretation. Researcher uses descriptive qualitative method that applies documentation analysis to answer the question. The researcher analyzed the data using Lefevere’s theory to find out what technique was used to translate the poetry in Love & Misadventure. Following the sampling results, 30 poems were chosen for this research. These poems were translated using four different translation techniques. The result revealed that 27 poems applied literal translation, 5 applied rhymed translation, 9 applied blank verse translation, and 15 applied interpretation. The number of translation techniques used in each poem is as follows: 7 poems use 3 translations, 12 poems use 2 translations, and 11 poems use 1 translation.
