Abstract
This paper is entitled “Code Switching in Mobile Legends Bang Bang Online Game.” This paper is written to fulfill the S-1 degree requirement. The background issues in this paper are the language style used by the gamers and the MPL commentators. This research was conducted because both players and official commentators use a unique language style that contains two languages in one sentence. In this paper, the writer uses a qualitative approach, and the writer is collecting the data from two aspects: gaming experience and Youtube streaming. The writer analyzed the data to know the language style of both players and commentators and to answer the research questions. This study was conducted based on the language style of MLBB players. The results show that the players are even using more than two languages. Some of them use their ethnic language based on their region to make the sentences more understandable. This switched language is a part of communicating between players to reach victory and describe the gameplay situation as more fun for the commentators. Keyword: Language Style, MLBB, Linguistic, Socio-Linguistic, Code-Switch
