Abstract
The titled of this research is An Analysis of Figurative Language in Chudori’s “Laut Bercerita” as an Inspiration to Create a Poetry. Figurative language is a language that is often used to enhance the aesthetic of a written text. In the composition of the written text, of course, it is not just a text but has various meanings and purposes involved. This research is focused on analyzing of figurative language with its meaning by using Leech’s theory (1969) and Martinez’s theory of intertextuality (1996). The aims of this research are to improve the quality of thinking and creativity in writing poetry as an appreciation of literary works, beginning from literary reading and progressing to literary work in a figurative language. Thus, the focus of this research supports all intertextuality-related aspects. From literary reading into literary work, the events and meanings are similar, and the only thing that differs is the people on the persons that the author created with the persons who were targeting at the poems and has varied contents about romance, friendship, and family. Qualitative descriptive is the method that used in this research. There are four steps to documentation the data; reading, documenting, analyzing the data, and finding and summarizing the data. The results of this research include 11 data of figurative language in the novel and 5 analysis of intertextuality of 19 poems. Keywords: Figurative Language, Intertextuality, Novel, Poetry.
