Abstract

This study is called “Language Style Analysis on Marlboro Cigarette Advertising Slogans (An Analysis of Language Style on Marlboro Cigarette Advertising Slogans)”. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the language style and denotative-connotative meaning contained in Marlboro cigarette advertising slogans. Language styles are often found and even used in daily life. As long as there is communication, the style of language can easily be found. This study also deals with meaning. The researcher used a qualitative method in analyzing the data. The researcher obtained the data through observation, data collection, and analysis. Based on the analysis, the six samples of Marlboro cigarette advertising slogans contain language styles based on word choice, tone, sentence structure, and meaning. Moreover, based on the denotative-connotative meaning, these slogans also have a wide meaning that could affect the consumer behavior in buying the products. It is concluded that a language style is an important tool in delivering product slogans to enhance the value and the after-impact of the products.
