Abstract
This research is entitled “A Content Analysis of the 4th Grade English Textbook Entitled “Fun with English””. The objectives of this research was to determined the suitability of content in the English textbook entitled “Fun with English” with the criteria of a good English textbook that purposed by some experts. The textbook was analyzed by using the criteria that purposed by experts included three criteria : objective, material, and exercise. There will be twelve chapters that will be evaluated by using the criteria of a good English textbook. This research is done because, some English textbooks are used in every school for learning and teaching activity and they may not fulfill the criteria of a good textbook that purposed by some experts. Qualitative descriptive is used as the research method to answer the research problems. Regarding on the collected data, the writer found out that the English textbook entitled “Fun with English” fulfill the criteria of a good English textbook that purposed by some experts. It shows that the objective of the lesson meet the criteria of a good English textbook. In the material criteria, there is one chapter that does not meet the criteria. However, the rest of the chapter meet the criteria of a good English textbook. For the exercise, there are some chapters that do not meet the criteria of a good English textbook. However most of them meet the criteria of a good English textbook. Key words: Textbook Evaluation, Content Analysis, Qualitative
