Abstract

Rida Desnita Lutfiatasari. Implications of Learning Problem Based Learning To Improve Problem Solving Ability and Mathematical Representation Seen From Independence Student. Tesis Magister Pendidikan Matematika Fakultas Pascasarjana Universitas Bandung. Tahun 2016. This research is motivated by the importance and still not optimal problem-solving ability and the ability of students' mathematical representation. This study reviews the increase in the problem solving and the ability of mathematical representations that acquire learning Problem Based Learning with learning usual, in terms of independent learning, based on the categories of high, medium and low. The method used in this research is the type Embedded Mix Design Methods. The population in this study were students of class X IPS SMA Pasundan I Cianjur enrolled in the academic year 2016/2017. The samples used were two classes of three existing classes. The instrument used to collect data in the form of test instrument problem-solving ability and a mathematical representation, questionnaires independent learning, observation and interview sheet. Data used using the test the difference between two average Anova two lanes (quantitative) and descriptions (qualitative). The results showed that: the independence of student learning by learning Problem Based Learning began to look at the fifth and sixth meetings. Students who earn high category and is a lot more, than students who received conventional learning. There is not even students who obtain a lower category on students who use the learning Problem Based Learning, whereas there are still students who memeproleh lower category on conventional learning. Based on interviews, the students feel more comfortable, can learn to be independent and feel challenged with the question of the teacher. Inversely to students who received conventional learning, they are bored, admit that they can not learn to be independent. It can be concluded that the independence of student learning using the learning Problem Based Learning is better when compared to conventional learning. 2) Increase the ability of students learning mathematical representation using a Problem Based Learning is better than students whose learning using the conventional terms of independent learning based on the categories of high, medium and low. 3) The ability of the students whose learning problem solving using a Problem Based Learning is better than students whose learning using the conventional terms of the independence of student learning based on the categories of high, medium and low. 4) a.Tidak there is a relationship between the ability to learn mathematical representation of the independence b. There was no relationship between problem-solving abilities with learning independence c. There is a relationship between problem solving skills with the ability of a mathematical representation Keywords: Problem Based Learning, problem solving skills, the ability of a mathematical representation, independent learning.
