Abstract

The title of this paper is An Error Analysis of Using Future Tenses in Student Writing Composition (A Study toward the First Grade Senior High School Students of Pasundan 2 Bandung). In this paper the writer analyzed an error of using simple future and future progressive in writing. Through this study, it can be known that to find out the students’ error and students’ ability in understanding the concept of tenses especially in using simple future and future progressive in writing. The method that is used in this paper is descriptive method, because the future tenses in student’ data was formed by sentences. Also, this study uses descriptive method because it is intended to describe the error that was made by students. In collecting the data, the writer uses essay test as his instrument. The writer asks the students to write composition about their plan in Ramadhan’s holiday. From these data, it could be concluded there are some error in using future tenses, auxiliary verb, verb form, and to be. The most occur error is auxiliary verb errors. Besides that the writer concludes that the students didn’t understand well the concept of simple future and future progressive. Key words: Error Analysis, Simple Future, Future Progressive.
