Abstract
This research paper entitled “The Implementation of Role Play in Enhancing Students’ Speaking Ability”. This research use descriptive qualitative and the sample is one class in the senior high school (first grade). The research aims is to find out the form of lesson plan, the form of learning equipment (the material, the media, the work sheet and the evaluation), the result of role-play method to enhance students’ speaking ability and the students’ responses. The form of lesson plan and learning equipment is found out through the observation, and the form is quite good. The result of role-play method in enhancing students’ speaking ability is found out through pre-test and post-test, the result is the students’ speaking ability enhancing 12%. The last is students’ responses, this is getting by the questionnaire and the students’ responses about the role-play are mostly positive. Therefore, the role-play method can enhance students’ speaking ability, even there was a small enhance and based on the students’ responses, most of them agree that role-play method can enhance their speaking ability.
