Abstract

The Tactical Vehicle Komodo 4x4 Mistral is a creation product of the Indonesian people which produced by PT. Pindad. This Tactical Vehicle to function as a platform missiles launcher, so that the security and proper condition needed when used in operation. The Tactical Vehicle Komodo 4x4 Mistral designed in such as in order that can be operated in land with a steep field condition, sandy and rocky as well as for the extreme fields, so the driving wheel of vehicle must be designed sturdy. To be sure that the tactical vehicle is proper in operation, so after the production of each vehicle unit was finished and then will be done test. When the testing this tactical vehicle was found the damage on right front wheel that the clipper bolt of wheel hub came undone with portal axle which form main component of driving wheel. The damage of this part to cause vehicle can not be functioning. Wheel hub connected with portal axle by using bolt connection system. Wheel hub is held or connected to portal axle by using 10 pieces bolt. To obtain cause of damage happen on connection system between wheel hub and portal axle was done Failure Analysis Method (Failure Analysis). Analysis of connection system for wheel hub with the portal axle was executed for several aspect with kind of static analysis. The first, mechanical aspect, want to know mode and total load received by clipper bolt of wheel hub. The second, material aspect want to know whether kind of material used appropriate and be able to accommodate load received by clipper bolt. The third is production aspect, this aspect was done that want to know dimension and bolt tolerance which had been used in connection system between wheel hub and portal axle.
