Abstract

This research is entitled “The Implementation of Write-around Strategy in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text to Improve Students’ Writing Skill.” The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the Write-around strategy in enhancing students’ ability to write descriptive texts. The research was conducted at SMPN 29 Bandung and involved 32 students from 7C class as the participants. This study used a classroom action research method consisting of two cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data were collected through students’ writing tasks, observation sheets, and field notes. The findings of the study showed that the implementation of the Write-around strategy significantly improved students' writing skills, particularly in generating ideas, organizing paragraphs, and using appropriate vocabulary. Students also became more engaged and motivated during the writing process. It can be concluded that the Write-around strategy is an effective strategy for teaching descriptive text writing and can be recommended for classroom use.
