Abstract

This study aims to analyse and compare two English language learning modules created by eighth and ninth-grade teachers based on the structure and components established in the Merdeka Curriculum. This study used qualitative methods with document analysis techniques. Data were obtained from two open modules developed by English teachers at a junior high school in Bandung City. The analysis showed that both open modules contained essential components such as identity, learning objectives, Pancasila student profiles, learning models, learning activity flows, assessments, and supporting appendices. However, there were differences in the completeness and systematic organization of each module. The eighth-grade learning module was more systematic and complete than the ninth-grade learning module, particularly in terms of assessment and the completeness of appendices. The study concluded that although both modules adhered to the Merdeka Curriculum structure, improvements in the development of certain components were still needed to optimise the quality of the modules. This study recommends ongoing training for teachers and strengthening collaboration through the MGMP forum to improve the quality of Learning Modules.
