Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out what types of language style existed in the series and what types of meaning existed in the series based on the theory that the writer has chosen which is the theory of Martin Joos (1976). This research used descriptive qualitative method by observing the entire episodes of season one especially the Mexican character ‘Maria Jose Sevilla’. The writer will be focusing on the Casual style and Consultative style language in the series. The data is identified by watching the series, and reading the transcript a couple times. The result showed that Casual style has the most data with 13 data, then followed by Consultative Style with 4 data, all identified from 17 total data. As for types of meaning, there are 3 types of meaning that was found in the series, Connotative meaning (8 data), Conceptual meaning (5 data), and Affective meaning (4 data).
