Abstract

The research is entitled “An Analysis of Cultural Values on Fuadi’s Anak Rantau”. The topic of cultural values was chosen because there are some values of Eastern life that are starting to disappear and are being replaced due to the influence of foreign cultures in the era of globalization. This makes Indonesians slowly forget the values brought by their ancestors. The objectives of the study in this research are to find out the intrinsic elements and to find out how Ahmad Fuadi represents cultural values in the novel Anak Rantau based on types of human interaction as a medium to remind readers of the Eastern values of Indonesia.The research uses a qualitative approach and documentation research techniques to analyze. Koentjaraningrat's (1985) theory is used to identify and classify forms of cultural values based on types of human interaction, and Sunardjo's theory (2001) is used to analyze the cultural values represented in the novel Anak Rantau. The result of this research: first, the novel explains how each of the intrinsic elements of a literary work relate to each other, because without them, a literary work could not have been created. Second, the cultural values in the novel include 34 data as a result, and the data is classified into five categories. From all the data obtained and analyzed, the writer found that Ahmad Fuadi conveyed through the novel he made about the cultural values illustrated through various characters, dialogues, and story scenes in this novel. Ahmad Fuadi, through the Indonesian literature that he created, can be a medium to learn the cultural values of our ancestors as Easterners. Keyword: Cultural Value, Literature, Novel
