Abstract

This study analyzes and discusses the meaning of the lyrics of the songs Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow, and Outro: Ego by BTS (Bangtan Boys). It focuses on semiotic analysis with descriptive qualitative as the method. As for data analysis instruments, the writer uses Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theory. The writer tries to interpret the lyrics of the songs classified by signifier and signified. The objects of this research is the lyrics from BTS’ songs Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow, and Outro: Ego. In accordance with the research problems, what will be analyzed is the meaning of those three songs. Where in this study, the writer got the results about what is the meaning behind the songs. The lyrics of the songs have very strong meanings, how the artists accept all the personality they have, both positive and negative. Keywords: Semiotics, Meaning, Signs, Ferdinand de Saussure
