Abstract
This research is aimed to conduct an analysis the speech style in the main character in "The End of the F***ing World" the Netflix series. This research is qualitative, using Document Analysis research method to analyze the main character speech style. Out of the four speech styles based on Mandell and Kirszner's (2003) theory (formal, informal, colloquial, and slang), only 3 (three) were found in the research object, including informal, colloquial and slang. Apart from that, there are three of the four factors that influence the main character's speech style; participant, setting and function. The research findings indicate that the main character often uses informal style, which occurs mostly during conversations with James, with a total of 246 occurrences, followed by colloquial style with a total of 58 and slang with a total of 19. The author suggests that future researchers should investigate the most recent theories related to speech styles in films and conduct further research on language styles in society due to the lack of research in domain.
