Abstract
Indonesia has the second largest car manufacturing industry in Southeast Asia and in the ASEAN region. Seeing the development of the automotive industry in Indonesia, PT. XYZ is quite interesting to observe, so a research was conducted on the development of leadership styles related to safety climate. This research is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The research design used is Cross Sectional. This research is focused on the development of leadership styles related to the safety climate. The independent factor in this study is the leadership style component shown by The Ohio State Studies (Leader-Behavior Description Questionnaire). The dependent variable in this research is occupational safety climatic conditions, primary data obtained from the NOSACQ-50 Questionnaire developed by the Nordic Network of Occupational Safety Researchers (NORDIC) team. Data analysis was performed by path analysis, using the LISREL application program. The results of data analysis using LISREL 8.8 software can be seen that the direct effect of leadership style on safety climate has a path coefficient of 0.84 with a standard error of 0.08 and t count of 9.981.96 meaning that leadership style partially influences PT XYZ's safety climate. Development of leadership style related to safety climate at PT. XYZ shows an average score of 1154.9 or 77.6% which is in good criteria. The dominant leadership behavior tendency is towards consideration leadership style. While the magnitude of the contribution of leadership style to the safety climate is 69%, and the remaining 31% is explained by other variables such as work environment, organizational culture, leadership, motivation and others. Future researchers can develop how the influence of this leadership style is not only up to the safety climate but also its future influence on safety behavior and safety performance. In addition, the sampling method should use purposive sampling. Keywords: Leadership Style, Safety Climate, path analysis, LISREL
