Abstract
Abstract This paper is entitled “An Analysis of Song Deok Sun Characterizations in Korean Drama the Third Series of Reply (Answer me: 1988)”. This research aimed to know the character and characterizations of Song Deok Sun as the main character (female lead) by analyzing the evidence from dialogues and her actions in Korean drama. Also, to know what the character and characterizations of Song Deok Sun are. The researcher used descriptive qualitative methodology for this paper to describe the character and characterizations of the main character. This research uses the theory of Freytag’s pyramid to analyze the plot. There are seven elements: Exposition, Inciting Incident, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution, and Denouement. From the analysis, the researcher concluded that Song Deok Sun was the main character (the only female character) among her four best friends (the male characters). Song Deok Sun's character always appears as the character involved in events. The researcher also concluded that Song Deok Sun was a protagonist, she had a simple/flat figure characterization and all the characterization could be described through appearance, dialogue, action, reactions, and behaviour of other characters. The researcher hopes that future researchers in any field will use this research as a reference, to continue the learning methods in this Korean drama the third series of Reply (Answer me: 1988). Keywords: Korean Drama, Reply 1988, Characterizations, Freytag’s Pyramid.
