Abstract

Characters in literary work can refer to the individual in the story or in other words the character or story also refers to the union of interests, emotions and moral principles that make up the character or in other words describe the character. Characters show their behavior and their relation to the others which is called characterization. Characterization is very necessary as an initial introduction to the character. One of the literary works that has an amazing characterization is Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan is an action-genre anime whose the author is Hajime Isayama, telling a story about the main character named Eren Yeager who has a unique and complicated character development. Based on the characterization of main character that existed in Attack on Titan anime, the title of this research will be “An Analysis of Characterization on the Main Character of Isayama’s Attack on Titan Anime” which will be focusing on analyzing the characterization of main character, Eren Yeager, using using the elements of narrative theory of Pratista (2008) and characteristic of character theory of Marquaß (1997). This research is using qualitative descriptive method. The result of this research is there are fourteen elements of space in Attack on Titan anime related to elements of narrative, and the development character of the main character itself is having a significant differences based on the event that happened.
