Abstract

This study entitled The Implementation of Using Podcast as a Media in Teaching “Intentions to Do Something” to Increase Students’ Extensive Listening Skills (A Study Towards the First Year Students of Pasundan 2 Senior High School Bandung Academic Year 2022-2023). The aims of this research are to know the procedure in teaching activity using podcast as media, to know the result of students listening skill by using podcast as the media and to know the respondents’ rsponse about using podcast as the media. The method that use in this research is using descriptive qualitative method. In implementing podcast, the researcher has three stages which them are: planning, implementation and reporting. The total of meeting was two meetings, which are pre-test, treatment 1, treatment 2 post-test and interview. The data that obtained was from data observation, data listening tests (pre-test and post-test) and data from interview. In analyzing data, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method. Based on data analysis from pre-test and post-test, the mean pre-test was 68,3 and the mean of post-test was 87,3. It can be seen that the mean of post-test is higher than pre-test. It shows that the use podcast as learning media to increase students’ extensive listening is effective. If it calculated, it is 21,7% improvement in students’ extensive listening skill. Moreover, the data from interview showed that the use of podcast can improve students’ motivation to learn English especially listening skill. The students also excited and interested for using podcast as their learning media for improving their listening skill. Keywords: Teaching Listening, Podcast.
