Abstract
The research entitled “An Analysis of Discrimination Against Albinism in André Øvredal’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” The content written in this research paper is about the discrimination against albinism in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie. The reason why the writer chooses Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie is rarely does anyone raise the issue of the injustice experienced by a person with a disability as well as to make the public more aware of the rights of someone with a disability, this paper contained an example of a physical disability namely albinism. In this study, the writer used the media text analysis method with a descriptive qualitative method, then the research was analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The results of this study are the representation of discrimination against albinism in Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark and the way André Øvredal describes the issue of discrimination contained in this movie. The issue of discrimination against albinism in this movie is also carried out by verbal and physical violence. This discriminatory behavior may be caused by various factors such as family conditions, disability, social environmental conditions, etc. This research is recommended to further researchers and the public in general so that this research can be further developed.
