Abstract
The title of this study is "An Analysis of Slang Words Used in The Script Band Song Lyrics". It tries to figure out what slang words mean and what kinds of slang words are used in the lyric song by The Script band. A language is a tool that humans purposefully created for communication. Language has existed for hundreds of years. The study uses grand theory as the part of the research, by using the grand theory, the writer can find what is the theory that match into the research question for answering the question. This study aims to determine which slang types are usually used and what their meanings are. The writer analyzes the type of slang words and the meaning of the slang word on The Script band song lyrics by focusing on ten specific songs from two albums by The Script band. This research uses qualitative descriptive research method to find out the data. To strengthen the data, the writer uses document analysis. By conducting research and noting the slang word. Following the data collection, the writer attempts to identify the slang words used and the meaning of slang words. Keyword: Sociolinguistic, Language, Slang Words, Lyrics, Music
