Abstract
This research is entitled An Analysis of English Speaking Skill of Receptionist at Front Office Department in Sheraton Bandung Hotel and Towers. This research is made for some purposes, there are to find out the English speaking skill of receptionist and to know what kind of difficulties they faced when having communication with foreign guests at Sheraton Bandung Hotel and Towers. As a five star hotel in Bandung, this hotel has been visited by many foreign guests, but the writer finds that some receptionists who always be the first staff in facing the foreign guest and they do not have good English speaking skill. They can not give their best services with lack of English speaking skill. This research involve three respondents who have the same opportunity to communicate with foreign guests. The writer uses qualitative method as the method of this research. To find out the results of this research, the writer conducts observation, interview and questionnaire to the respondents. The writer only analyzes the English speaking skill of receptionists in assisting the foreign guests at Sheraton Bandung Hotel and Towers. After all the data has been collected, the writer analyze the data and present it. In the end, the writer hopes that this research can be useful for hotelier especially receptionists of Sheraton Bandung Hotel and towers. Keywords: English speaking skill, receptionist, hotel
