Abstract
The title of this research is “Propaganda Issues Toward The Next World War III In Singer and Cole’s The Ghost Fleet Novel”. It attempts to analyze kinds of propaganda and characters discussing about world war. The purpose of conducting its research is to describe where the propaganda occur and the scene of characters that speak out about world war. The writer used Ellul Jacques in his book Propaganda: The Formation of Men’s Attitudes (1973: 62), that there are six types of propaganda. The writer uses a descriptive qualitative method in order to analyze and answer the research questions by reading the data through six types of propaganda by Ellul Jaques. The writer has found that the data in Ghost Fleet novel written by P.W. Singer & August Cole contained with propaganda. To answer the research questions number 1, the writer has gathered the fact of propaganda issues. From six types of propaganda, the writer has only found five types of them, as follows: Vertical with eight data, Integration with five data, Agitation with four data, Horizontal with three data and Political propaganda with one data. Then on the research questions number 2, there are characters discussing about the war in some scenes such as Jammie Simmons, Jakob Sanders, Worm & Miller, Kapten Rilley, Bill Darling, Jimmi Links, Admiral Wan Xiaoqian. According to the six kinds of propaganda, the writer defines that the author tries to deliver hate speech using Vertical Propaganda through the characters. Then, the writer also detected the scene of the character that discussing about world war by finding the dialogues, which means the beginning of the war.
