Abstract
This research paper entitled An Analysis of Banquet Event Order Translation in Sales & Marketing Department at Mason Pine Hotel Padalarang Bandung. The objectives of the research are to find out the procedures of translation used by Sales and Marketing Department and how appropriate the translation procedures in translating Banquet Event Order. The writer uses qualitative research method and applied descriptive analysis. The main sources are from two BEOs which contain 50 sentences and each BEO represents a market segment in Mason Pine Hotel Padalarang Bandung. The result of data analysis showed that the translation procedure mostly used first is Literal Translation 16 of 50 data (32%), the second is Borrowing 14 of 50 data (28%), the third is Transposition 9 of 50 data (18%), the fourth is Calque 5 of 50 data (10%), the sixth is Adaptation 4 of 50 (8%) and the last is Modulation 2 of 50 data (4%). After analyzed, the researcher defined that the staff of Sales and Marketing Department chose the appropriate translation because the messages delivered well and the result of translation is easy to understand. In addition, the translation result is relevant with the classifications of procedure translation that purposed by Vinay and Darbelnet. However, the writer attempted to correct several data which irrelevant, based on the theory. Keywords: Translation Procedure, Vinay and Darbelnet, Hotel, Banquet Event Order.
