Abstract

The title in this paper is “The Implementation of Cooperative and Integrated Reading Composition in Teaching Simple Present tense”. CIRC method isthe one of technique that can helpstudents to improve their ability. Using CIRC method also can help the teacher to find out the progress of the students inany aspect of English Learning. In this paper the objective of the research is to know the teacher procedure in teaching simple present tense in descriptive text using CIRC method.This research using qualitative method, but the researcher used data calculation, only to support qualitative research.The participant of this research is the students of second grade in SMPN 11 Bandung andthe total of sample is 32 students. The technique used in collecting the data were classroom observation, pre-post, post-test, questionnaire and interviews. The student were gave the simple present subject to be asked to make the description works.The researcher as a teacher taught the students by using CIRC method. The students did treatment test as much three times and did pre-test and post-test to get data and also to complete the answers of the research question. The result of classroom observation, pre-test, post-test, questionnaire and interview were interpreted by the researcher, it helps the readers to find out that this technique is successfully used in teaching learning process.This is can be seen from the result of post-test, it shows that the class after was given treatments using CIRC method got higher score than class activities without using CIRC method. Based on total the result of pre-test and post-test after using CIRC method, increased 21,1 point from the average result of pre-test is 52,2 point, to the average result of post-test 73,3 point. Which it means, learning about simple present tense using CIRC method has increased andthe result of students’ responses from students interviews and questionnaire, showed positive result.Key Words: CIRC Method, Cooperative and Integrated Reading Composition Method
