Abstract

Every story contains a message, including a literary work like novel. Learning moral contained in literary work is good to stimulate our sense and reasoning levels. Furthermore, it can increase a person’s attitude and behavior toward goodness. The writer chose the novel entitled “Norwegian Wood”, written by Haruki Murakami. The book is one of his masterpieces since it first published in 1987 and it is already been translated tomore than 50 languages and sold over three millions copies. The writer chooses the book because he feel interest of how the messages contained in the work are mostly talking about the philosophy of life. The writer decides to conduct this research to findthe moral messages and its form of delivery. Qualitative method was used in order to analyze the messages contained in the work. This research concluded that through literature, the authors can convey moral as a message that contained in their works are indeed useful for the reader.Keywords: Novel, Fiction, Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood, Moral message, Paper,Literature
