Abstract

This research tells about the main character in the dramatic text entitled “Gerr”. The dramatic text was written by Putu Wijaya. The writer chooses the dramatic text because she feels interested of how the author delivered the story and the dramatic text is unusual to be analyzed. The writer thinks that the main character is describe much more alive and the story is really interesting. The writer decides to conduct this research to find how the main character faced the event and the problem. In the story, the writer also analyzes the characterization of the main character based on the dialogue. The writer uses Rimon and Kenan characterization to solve the problem. The purposes in writing this paper are to give a meaning of the main character by relation between the intrinsic elements and the main character and describing the characterization in the main character. In this paper, the writer uses descriptive method. This method is uses to describe clearly the characterization and intrinsic elements of the main character. In collecting the data, the writer goes to many libraries and look for some books which have relation with this paper. The writer also get other sources in collecting the data that is from internet. The writer uses 27 dramatic texts by Putu Wijaya as population and she just uses one book as a sample of this paper that is “Gerr” Keywords : Dramatic Text, Main Character, Characterization, Intrinsic Elements.
