Abstract

The title of this research is “The Implementation of Mind Mapping in Students’ English Writing Descriptive Text” by means to know the implementation of mind mapping in students’ English writing descriptive text. It is written to be submitted to English Department of Pasundan University. The participants of the study are third grade students at SMP Indonesia Raya Bandung academic year 2016/2017. The objective of this study is to find out the implementation of mind mapping in students’ English writing descriptive, the result of the implementation of mind mapping, and students opinion towards the implementation of mind mapping in XIC class of SMP Indonesia Raya Bandung. The successful of teaching learning is depending how to implement the method, technique, media, and strategy in the activity. The writer conducted this research by using descriptive qualitative method. The writer tried to apply mind mapping in writing descriptive text. In collecting the data, several instruments were utilized. The first step is observation. The writer as a teacher conducted this study two times of meeting, first day for pretest and the implementation, and the last day for post-test. The data are described by using qualitative and quantitative analysis. After the writer conducted the research, the writer described about the result from teaching learning process and the observation. The writer also collected all students work, the writer evaluates and assess the students works and comparing pre-test and post-test result scores. The writer also interviewed the students to find out their opinion towards mind mapping in the implementation of students’ writing, especially in descriptive text. The finding in this study clearly found that the implementation of mind mapping in students’ English writing in descriptive text is improves students’ English skills in writing. Students improvement after the implementation is about 31%. Students’ opinions are also very good. Therefore, the implementation of students’ English writing in descriptive text by using mind mapping interesting to applied in teaching writing. Keywords: Teaching, Mind Mapping, Descriptive Text.
