Abstract

This study is a mixed method (Mixed Method) type Embedded Design with the type Embedded experimental model of research design shaped pretest-posttest control group design, which aims to conduct a study that focuses on the application of the approach Problem Based Learning (PBL) To Improve Ability of Thinking Creative Students and Mathematical problem Solving in Primary Schools. The population in this study were students of class V SDN Cibabat Mandiri 1 Cimahi. Sample selection is done on the population purposively (purposive sampling) two classes, with class V.1 given treatment by learning Problem Based Learning (PBL), class V.2 given treatment with conventional models. Instruments used in this research is to test the ability of creative thinking, problem solving ability test, observation sheets, and interviews. Based on data analysis we concluded that (1) the ability of creative thinking of students learning mathematics by using model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students learning with conventional learning models. (2) The mathematical problem solving ability of students learning by using model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students learning with conventional learning models. (3) The ability to think creatively and solving mathematical students learning by using model Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students learning with conventional learning models. (4) There is a correlation between the ability to think creatively mathematics and mathematical problem-solving abilities, it can be seen from the results of research that has been done, where there is an increase in meetings on learning so as to provide a positive impact on students. (5) Learning Problem Based Learning (PBL) have a positive impact on the attitudes of students, either individually or in groups, the behavior of students who are active and enthusiastic in following study provides good results on learning outcomes. and the students explained that learning Problem Based Learning (PBL) is more interesting not boring, easily understood and better when compared to conventional learning. Keywords: Problem Based Learning (PBL), Creative Thinking, Problem Solving.
