Abstract

Listening is one of four language English skills that must be learnt by students. Listening and speaking are correlated to each other. Many people have a good speaking but sometimes they are lack in listening of English language. They should be able to master it as well as possible, because when listening to the speaker, the listener should be able to respond correctly. If he or she fails to listen correctly, they will face the problem of misunderstanding among the speaker and the listener. Based on the research above, the writer has conducted the research relating to problem of listening ability. the writer has chosen short short story in teaching listening for improving students listening ability and the method which used in this study is the experimental study. The method has been implemented through pre-test, post-test and treatment At the last, the writer discuses a finding to the use of short short story, and the result is effective especially in junior high school when conducting the research in SMP Pasundan 12 for three weeks, almost all of students like the learning process of using short short story. The effect in implementing the value of short short story is a positive in influencing students’ listening ability.
